Before getting started, you should know that this is a messy job and you will need a few items to complete the job, including a trash bin, a pair of scissors, a screw driver (check your machine to know which kind), and possibly more tools to help you out.

Start your vacuum cleaner maintenance by inverting the machine and removing the guard on the bottom, exposing the rollers and spaces leading to the suction tube. Take your scissors and cut out the strings that have wrapped around the rollers and remove all debris build up. In some instances, you may need to remove the rollers to properly clean them or the spaces behind them.

Next begin to pull out any hardened debris that is clogging the area around the suction tube. You may need to find something that you can push into the tube to loosen up debris and get any trash stuck in the tubes to fall free. You may need to stand the vacuum cleaner up and lightly shake it to help remove some of the buildup.

With some vacuum cleaners and sever build up problems, you may have to disconnect some of the tubing to properly clean them and remove any debris buildup. Removing all the debris and build up from your vacuum cleaner tubes is the key for optimal suction and performance.

Check to make sure that all interior parts of your vacuum cleaner have been cleaned and that there is not debris buildup blocking any airways and reassemble your machine. This should greatly improve suction and overall performance.

Remember to replace and wash any filters as needed for optimal performance and to rid any odors while running the vacuum cleaner. Proper vacuum cleaner maintenance is the key to a long life of great performance and you should perform this task once every two or three months.
